Delta Air Lines' Online Check-in allows you to check-in up to 24 hours before your flight departs.
You can use Online Check-in if you:
- Check-in 30 minutes-24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
- Have an electronic ticket for a confirmed reservation.
- Are traveling to/from the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Are traveling on Delta, Delta Connection, Delta Shuttle, Song, and when connecting on Delta's Through Check-in partners (Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Northwest Airlines, U.S. Airways).
- You are not a special needs passenger.
Be sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags etc. If you have bags to check you will be able to print your boarding pass at home but will have to drop your bags with a Delta Air Lines skycap, at a Delta Air Lines Kiosk or Check-in counter at the airport before the cut-off time. When you use Online Check-in you can change or select your seat.
For domestic flights (other than Shuttle flights), the cut-off time for checking baggage at the airport is 30 minutes before your flight's departure time. If you are traveling from Atlanta, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Juan or St. Thomas, the cut-off at the airport is 45 minutes. For international flights, the cut-off time at the airport for checking baggage is 60 minutes before your flight's departure time. If you are traveling from Bogota, Istanbul, Moscow, Nassau, Turks and caicos or St. Lucia, the cut-off at the airport can be up to 3 hours.
Domestic passengers need to be at the boarding gate: at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time. International passengers need to be at the boarding gate: at least 45 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. Lap children can only be held by passengers who are at least 12 years of age. You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device.
While traveling domestically a child under 2 years old (24 months) can travel for free as long as the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
While traveling internationally a child 7 days- 2 years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage 45 linear in/114 cm, maximum weight of carry-on luggage 40 lb/18 kg.
Passengers are allowed 2 checked bags as long as each bag has maximum dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm and maximum weight 50 lb/23 kg. Passengers traveling to/from Key West, Florida are only allowed one checked bag. The free weight allowance is 70 pounds (32 kg) for tickets purchased in Brazil or Japan.
Fee for any bag weighing 51-70 lb: $50. Fee for any bag weighing 71-100 lb: $100. Bags weighing more than 100 lb will not be accepted. Bags that exceed the allowance in more than one category, will be charged all applicable excess fees.
Fee for any bag between 62-80 in: $100. Bags with overall dimensions that exceed 80 inches will not be accepted.
Fee for additional bags (within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico): $75 each. Fee for additional bags (all other destinations): $125 each.
Some checked items, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee.
